Candid family photo session | Half Day In a Life of a Family of 5

This is a story of a typical day in a life of a family of 5 wonderful humans, a cat and a dog. They recently bought their dream house and have been updating it little by little. They wanted to freeze in time these special moments and to me there’s nothing more rewarding and exciting than being invited into someone’s world to document it.

CANDID FAMILY PHOTOGRAPHY

Morning shenanigans

The day began with the kids helping their mom in the kitchen. Flour dusted the countertops, floor and the kids’ pajamas, as the little hands eagerly mixed ingredients. Capturing these candid moments, with the children engrossed in their tasks and mom guiding them with patience and love, was truly heartwarming.

After cleaning up the flour, it was time to clean up the rest of the mess which included the kids.

Meanwhile, the family cat was basking peacefully in the morning sun, not caring whatsoever about any of that “nonsense”.

Preparing for an Adventure

As the morning unfolded, the family began to get ready for a walk to a nearby park by the river. The kids were buzzing with excitement, each one eager to get outside and explore.

Exploring the Backyard and Beyond

After finding a few dandelions in the backyard and making a few wishes, we then ventured to the nearby park by the river. Btw, I love water of any kind. Maybe because I’m a Pisces, who knows. But seeing kids skipping stones, looking for fish and just enjoying the simple pleasures of being outside always makes me very happy.

Lunch Time

The time has come to go back home. The kids played a little bit more, but we could all feel the energy of the day starting to wind down. Lunch time couldn’t come fast enough.

The Dog and the Toilet

Every family has those unexpected, quirky moments that make their story unique. This time it was the dog, who decided to drink water from the toilet. The water is clean with no chemicals for those of you who wonder. Apparently this is the dog’s favorite way of drinking the water, so the family decided to just go with it long term and so, that’s a regular, daily occurrence. It was a hilarious, real-life moment that I was lucky to capture. These unscripted happenings are what make documentary photography so special – they tell the true story of a family’s life.

Relaxing Together

Eventually, the kids exhausted from their adventures, began to calm down. They ate their snacks, watched some cartoons on tv and snuggled next to their parents on the sofa. The youngest one fell asleep for her nap.

These tender, serene moments, so quiet and intimate, are some of my favorite to capture. They remind me of the beauty of everyday life and of the importance of spending time together as a family and of appreciating it all, because time is truly going fast and things change constantly.

Final Thoughts

The genuine, unscripted moments are the ones that truly reflect the essence of a family’s life. The family I photographed, now has a collection of images that document a part of a day in their new home, filled with laughter, love, and real-life moments that they can cherish forever. I love being a part of creating that legacy for them.

If you’re interested in a Documentary Session for your family, I’d love to help you capture your own unique story. These sessions are about more than just photos; they’re about preserving the memories of your everyday life, the moments that define your family’s journey.
